Kian Zlutnick Rank, MA, LPCC

My name is Kian Zlutnick Rank (they/them) and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Certified Body Trust Provider. I provide individual therapy to those living in Minnesota, and consulting to clinicians across the country. I specialize in eating disorders and trauma in the queer/trans community.

Therapy with me is centered on simultaneously understanding and caring for the coping strategies you've developed, and having the courage to heal. I use a psychodynamic approach, which means we will explore childhood experiences and how those affect you today. We will focus on developing the client-therapist relationship so that you feel secure enough to receive care and begin to trust yourself, as well as to make meaningful connections outside of therapy sessions.

Clients I work with often come to sessions wanting to explore eating disorders, disordered eating, sports performance, compulsive exercise, and/or body image concerns. Many of my clients are unpacking developmental and complex trauma, and are curious about what loving themselves more could look like. Often, eating disorder behaviors serve as a survival strategy for navigating painful environments. With care and as a team, we will engage in healing work to honor your past self who was doing the best they could, and create a life worth living. I practice from a fat justice and anti-diet framework.

Along with doing eating disorder work, I also love working with clients on a variety of other concerns, including self esteem/perfectionism, anxiety, gender identity exploration, meaning making, and navigating relationships.

Previous to becoming a therapist, I worked as a peer mentor through the Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) and as a member of FEDUP, an international collective that focuses on eating disorders in the trans community.
